LCS&Z Participates in COAP Workshop

COAP Presentation

Partner Jeff Klahr and Principal Jennifer Getter of LCS&Z, LLP attended the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) program, sponsored by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and its Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) on June 27, 2016.

Klahr and Getter presented a session on careers in the accounting profession. They interacted with many students attending the COAP program at SUNY Albany, one of the 11 college campuses across New York where the COAP program was held this year.

Offering participants an opportunity to learn about the accounting profession through a variety of experiences, COAP focuses on exposing underrepresented high school juniors to careers in accounting and business. Each year, approximately 250 students spend three to five days learning about the accounting profession, developing career skills, and gaining exposure to the business world.

The program is taught in a classroom setting and also includes field trips visiting corporations, accounting firms, and other organizations, which provides exposure to the variety of opportunities for work as an accountant. This is the 6th year that LCS&Z has presented to COAP participants.
