LCS&Z Associate Co-Chairs NYSSCPA Northeast Chapter Annual Student Night

LCS&Z is pleased to announce that associate Jennifer Pickett, CPA, NYSSCPA Northeast Chapter Board Member, recently co-chaired and participated in the Chapter’s annual student night.

“The annual student night is one of my favorite events put on by the Northeast Chapter and I am honored to have co-chaired it this year,” said Pickett. “To me, it’s very rewarding to share my personal experiences with students and prepare them with the tools and information needed to be successful in the industry.”

The event is designed to attract students to the accounting profession by giving them the opportunity to learn about the experiences of a variety of professionals in the field. The evening began with a panel of four speakers who shared about their experiences in accounting and answered questions from students. The question and answer session was followed by dinner and presentations where students mixed and mingled among accounting professionals from various colleges and accounting firms in the Capital Region. The event concluded with a word from our keynote speaker, Dr. Oliver Robinson, Superintendent of Shenendehowa School District, about finding one’s passion and the importance of ethics in the workplace.

This year, 67 students attended the event along with 37 accounting professionals and educators. The majority of the students who attended were freshmen and sophomores who were just beginning to take accounting courses.

Pickett joined LCS&Z in 2011. As an associate, she provides a wide-range of tax, accounting and assurance services to the firm’s clients. Pickett is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Production Management and her Associate of Applied Science degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising. She then went on to obtain her Masters of Science in Accounting from State University of New York at Albany. Pickett is a member of the NYSSCPA Northeast Chapter Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Communications Committee and Co-Chairperson of the Education Committee. She currently resides with her husband and children in Albany, New York.
